Oumuaua - This mysterious guest arrived in 2017
Oumuamua is the first object in our Solar System from interstellar space, that we, as humans, have detected.
Take a moment to read that again. Then another moment.
This object came from another star system, and has possibly been journeying for many light years.
And in 2017 we were privileged to have it enter our solar system.
But was this object an asteroid, a comet, or something far more complex?
Firstly, it accelerated away from the sun. That's right. It whizzed towards the sun, went around it in a sling shot manouvre,
and emerged the other side. However it began speeding away from the sun, despite the large gravitational pull of the sun.
How could it do so without thrust or propulsion of it's own?
Secondly, its shape was oblong, unlike the general shape of asteroids. It's almost as if it had been designed to traverse long distances.
And thirdly, the object was shiny. Could it have been made of metal?
These three features set apart from the usual asteroids.
Could it have been an alien starship passing through our solar system?
We don't have the answers yet, but what's your opinion?
